How to Make Bio Fertilizer from Cow Dung in Australia

Australian customer

On May 30, 2024, an Australian customer asked us: how to make bio fertilizer from cow dung? To convert cow manure into bio fertilizer, the following steps are required: dehydration cow manure, fermentation, crushing, granulation, drying, cooling, and packaging. Under our communication, we customized the 6 TPH cow dung biofertilizer granulation solution for the customer from Australia.

Client Background and Actual Production Capacity Calculation

The client operates a large cattle farm in Australia with approximately 4,000 adult cows and 1,000 growing cattle. According to the cow manure output, this results in a total of about 161 tons of fresh cow dung per day. After dehydration, composting, and organic conversion, 3 tons of cow manure can be processed into 1 ton of biofertilizer. The biofertilizer plant plans to work 8 hours per day. So the actual output requirement is about 53–54 tons of biofertilizer daily, which equals approximately 6.7 tons per hour.

The client aimed to make bio fertilizer from cow dung in a controlled and commercial way, without overspending on oversized equipment in the early stage.

Two turnkey solutions for turning cow manure into biofertilizers

Based on the raw material volume and working schedule, YUSHUNXIN provided two turnkey solutions for turning cow manure into biofertilizers.

  • The first option was a powdered biofertilizer production line. It requires lower investment and simpler processing. This solution works well for internal farm use but offers limited storage performance and market competitiveness.
  • The second option was a granular biofertilizer production line. It can produce uniform pellets with better flowability, easier packaging, and higher added value.

After evaluating logistics distance, sales channels, and long-term profitability, the client decided to make bio fertilizer from cow dung in granular form. To match the actual processing rhythm, YUSHUNXIN customized A 6 T/H cow manure bio fertilizer granulation production line for the customer.

Equipment Configuration of the 6 T/H cow dung bio fertilizer Disc Granulation Line

After communication, YUSHUNXIN designed a 6 T/H granular biofertilizer production line specifically for cow manure processing in the farm. The complete system includes a screw-type dehydrator, a crawler compost turner for aerobic fermentation, a disc pelletizer, screening machine, dryer and cooler, conveyors, dust collection system, and centralized electrical control

The disc granulator played a key role in this project. Compared with other granulation technologies, disc granulation offers clear advantages for cow manure:

  • Adjustable pellet size and density.
  • Good pellet porosity for organic fertilizers usage

  • Gentle granulation without over-compactionBiological agents can be added

These features help maintain nutrient activity and ensure stable pellet quality. This is one of the reasons the client confidently chose this system to make bio fertilizer from cow dung efficiently and continuously.

How much does the 6 T/H cow dung–based biofertilizer manufacturing plant cost?

After final configuration confirmation and cost optimization, the complete 6 T/H cow manure biofertilizer disc granulation production line was delivered at a total investment of around USD 190,000. This price covered the core equipment, dust control systems, electrical control system, layout design, and technical support. After 45 working days, the customer in Australia received the complete cow dung biofertilizer production system.
