Small scale chicken poop biofertilizer production in Bolivia

Small scale chicken poop biofertilizer production in Bolivia

3–4 t/h chicken manure biofertilizer production line in Bolivia

Content

On November 26, 2025, YUSHUNXIN received an inquiry from a poultry farm owner in Bolivia. He is seeking a practical solution for chicken poop biofertilizer production. The client operates a medium-scale chicken farm with an average output of around 10 tons of fresh chicken manure per hour. Which consists of manure, urine, feathers, leftover feed, and bedding materials. Considering Bolivia’s local climate conditions and the client’s on-site composting space, we proposed a 3–4 t/h chicken waste bio fertilizer production line. The solution focused on moisture control, efficient compost turning, and cost-effective granulation.

Client Background Requirements of chicken poop biofertilizer production

The Bolivian client owns and operates a poultry farm with a consistent manure output of approximately 10 tons per hour. Due to the high moisture content and strong odor of fresh chicken manure, the client emphasized the following requirements:

  • 1

Moisture and odor reduction to support stable aerobic fermentation

  • 2

    Effective pathogen removal during composting.

  • 3

Controlled investment cost with equipment capacity matched to the existing farm scale.

These requirements became the basis for equipment selection and process design.

The tips of making compost from chicken manure for the customer in Bolivia

Aerobic fermentation is the core requirement of this Bolivian project and the foundation of chicken manure biofertilizer production. Based on our experience and local climate conditions, we provided the client with clear composting guidelines.

  • First, adjust the moisture content of fresh chicken manure to around 50%.

  • Next, you should spread a layer of straw powder on the ground, followed by the dewatered chicken manure.

  • Then, add 0.1% urea (by total material weight)  to balance the carbon–nitrogen ratio.

  • At the same time, apply 15 kg of superphosphate per ton to reduce odor and improve compost quality.

During composting, the overall pile moisture should remain close to 50%. If moisture becomes too high, straw powder helps absorb excess water. If conditions are too dry, a spraying system integrated into the compost turner can supply water evenly and support continuous aerobic fermentation.

What is the cost of small scale chicken poop biofertilizer production line?

The total investment for this small-scale chicken manure bio fertilizer project in Bolivia was USD 142,098, based on a 3–4 t/h production capacity. This cost mainly covers core processing equipment, auxiliary systems, and basic customization required for stable operation.

  • Approximately 65–70% of the budget was allocated to key equipment, including the manure dewatering system, compost turning machine, crushing units, disc granulator, dryer, cooler, coating machine, and packaging system.
  • Another 15–20% was used for auxiliary components such as conveyors, electrical control systems, and on-site installation support.
  • The remaining cost accounted for localized adaptations, including moisture control accessories and anti-corrosion treatment for equipment exposed to high humidity during the rainy season.

The Complete Chicken Manure to Biofertilizer Process and Equipment

After reviewing the client’s farm layout, daily manure output, and investment expectations, we designed a 3–4 t/h chicken manure biofertilizer production line tailored to local conditions in Bolivia.

Reducing Moisture for Safe Fermentation

The client’s first concern was lowering the moisture content of fresh chicken manure. It can ensure stable aerobic composting and odor control. To address this, we recommended the SXTS-180 screw press dehydrator. Its corrosion-resistant structure allows continuous operation in high-moisture environments, effectively reducing water content before composting.

Adjusting Carbon–Nitrogen Ratio

To improve fermentation efficiency, the client planned to add straw powder to balance the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio. We therefore included a straw crusher, capable of processing straw and other woody materials into fine powder. So, it is suitable for chicken manure composting applications.

Indoor Composting with Climate Adaptation

Because composting would take place indoors, the client preferred a flexible and compact turning solution.

The SXCF-4000 crawler-type compost turner met this requirement. Its adjustable turning frequency and pile thickness help maintain aerobic conditions. At the same time, considering Bolivia’s dry season, we customized a spraying system so water can be added evenly during turning. The system also allows the introduction of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria to enhance compost quality.

Preparing Compost for Granulation

Before granulation, the client wanted the compost crushed into uniform powder. We selected the SXFLF-600 vertical crusher, which produces consistent 5 mm compost particles, ensuring stable granulation performance.

Producing Market-Ready Biofertilizer Granules

For the granulation stage, the client aimed to produce 4 mm chicken manure biofertilizer granules while keeping investment costs under control. The SXYZ-3000 disc granulator was chosen for its cost-effectiveness and ease of operation. To adapt to the local rainy season, the granulating pan was manufactured from carbon steel with anti-corrosion treatment.

Drying, Cooling, and Packaging

Granular biofertilizer bagging machine

To stabilize the granules and prepare them for storage and sale, the chicken poop biofertilizer production line also integrate other standard equipment—including a dryer, cooler, screening machine, and packaging system. These units reduce moisture, prevent caking, and ensure uniform product quality.

Enhancing Microbial Performance

Finally, to protect beneficial microorganisms and improve fertilizer efficiency, we recommended a drum coating machine. This step helps extend microbial activity and increases the agronomic value of the finished biofertilizer.

Through detailed communication, we aligned the equipment configuration with the client’s farm scale, budget, and local climate conditions. The final solution converts fresh chicken manure into stable, nutrient-rich bio fertilizer within 20–25 days. It also provide both environmental and economic benefits for the farm.
